The Detroit Lions have a difficult situation with their salary cap in the coming seasons. In order to address that issue, they made a minor move on Thursday with one of their well-known players.

According to Tom Pelissero of USA Today, running back Reggie Bush agreed to restructure his deal to provide some salary cap relief.

Beat writer Josh Katzenstein notes the specifics of the move:

What is not clear, but very well might have happened, is the addition of a clause in his restructured contract that addresses public comments about child discipline:

“The undersigned also agrees to run any and all thoughts and musings about child discipline by the Lions’ Public Relations Department before offering them publicly.”

On the field Bush still provides a versatile and explosive weapon for a Lions’ offense that could be formidable this season. With Joique Bell locked up to ease the workload between the tackles, the Lions are set up to get the most out of Bush.

With this salary cap tweak today, they will also hope to be in position to continue to add the right pieces to the rest of the roster.
