Adding to their frontcourt, the Sacramento Kings have officially signed small forward Omri Casspi.

From Kings.com:

"SACRAMENTO, CA —- The Sacramento Kings today signed free agent forward Omri Casspi, according to Kings General Manager Pete D’Alessandro."

Signing a one-year deal for the veterans minimum with the Kings this off-season, Casspi will be approaching his second stint with the franchise. The first occurred in 2009 when the Kings drafted Casspi 23rd overall in the 2009 NBA Draft.

Two seasons later, the Kings would part ways with Casspi in the final trade before the 2011 NBA lockout that sent Casspi and a future first-round selection to the Cleveland Cavaliers for J.J. Hickson.

Last season, Casspi appeared in 71 games as a member of the Houston Rockets. In those games, Casspi averaged 6.9 points on 42 percent shooting (34 percent from three), 3.7 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game.

With Rudy Gay starting at small forward, Casspi will fight for minutes at reserve with Derrick Williams–the recently acquired Alonzo Gee is expected to get waived by the Kings in the next few days.

If Casspi is able to keep his three shot consistent, he’ll be an excellent fit in the rotation as he’ll keep the floor spread for Darren Collison, Rudy Gay, and DeMarcus Cousins to attack and score.

With the addition of Casspi, the Kings have a total of 17 players on the roster. Sacramento will have to cut their roster down to 15 by their season opener against the Golden State Warriors.
