The Toronto Raptors got off to a brutal start last season but wound up finishing 48-34 and winning the Atlantic Division. They then entered the offseason with three key free agents.

More from NBA

The Raptors made point guard Kyle Lowry their top priority in the offseason agreeing to re-sign starting point guard Kyle Lowry to a four-year, $48 million deal. They then turned their attention to forward Patrick Patterson, a restricted free agent. He agreed to a three-year, $18 million deal. After that, Lowry’s backup, Greivis Vasquez got a two-year, $13 million deal.

Alex Kennedy of Basketball Insiders called the Raptors’ offseason “excellent.”

"The Raptors had an excellent offseason, re-signing Kyle Lowry and acquiring Lou Williams without giving up too much. Throw in internal development from players like DeMar DeRozan (who was phenomenal last year), Jonas Valanciunas, Terrence Ross and Patrick Patterson among others and it’s easy to imagine this team being even better in 2014-15 than they were last season. If Lowry and DeRozan can continue to play at a high level and Williams can return to his Sixth-Man-of-the-Year-candidate form, this team could be scary good. I believe Toronto will win the Atlantic Division once again and then proceed to make some noise in the playoffs."

The Raptors didn’t make any big additions so they are obviously banking on the improvement of their core
