Darren Sproles was traded from the New Orleans Saints to the Philadelphia Eagles this offseason but it wasn’t before there was interest elswhere in the league. According to Rich Tandler of CSNWashington.com, the Redskins had interest in acquiring Sproles from the Saints this offseason but didn’t pull off the deal before he was moved to Philadelphia.

"According to reports, the Redskins were paying some keen interest and were ready to come in with an offer if the Saints dropped the aging (31), small (5-6, 181) but fast and productive back. But before the Saints cut Sproles they got a trade offer from the Eagles and they shipped him to Philadelphia in exchange for a fifth-round draft pick."

Has the Redskins acquired Sproles, either through trade or by signing him, it would be interesting to picture the Redskins offense with a healthy Robert Griffin III, DeSean Jackson and Darren Sproles but it just wasn’t meant to be. What this could mean though is that the Redskins are in the market for a back like Sproles, which is why keeping an eye on someone like LaMichael James.
