Josh McCown has severely sprained thumb, could play in week 4
By Hayden Kane
The Josh McCown era is off to a rough start in Tampa Bay. The Buccaneers are 0-3 and early returns seem to indicate that this might be the worst team in the NFL.

A career journeyman, McCown looked like he had new life last year in Chicago under head coach Marc Trestman. Thinking that they had the pieces in place throughout the rest of their roster to add a veteran quarterback like McCown and be successful, the Buccaneers pounced this past off-season and signed him to a two-year deal.
It turns out that success was probably a lot more Trestman than anything, because McCown has looked terrible thus far. As if that weren’t enough, McCown was forced to exit his team’s humiliating 56-14 loss on Thursday night with a thumb injury. Mike Glennon took over and looked just as helpless as poor McCown did.
That injury seemed to hold McCown’s status in doubt for the weeks beyond this one. On that front, Roy Cummings reports that McCown has a severely sprained right thumb but that he could be available to play in week 4.
Given his underwhelming results thus far, it seems likely McCown will get an extra week or two to rest up before he gets to go back out there to try and prove he is the man for the job in Tampa Bay.
