Washington Wizards making push to sign Ray Allen
By Sam Richmond
The Washington Wizards are long shots to sign Ray Allen, with teams such as the Cleveland Cavaliers and Los Angeles Clippers better able to offer Allen an opportunity to win big.

But that hasn’t stopped the Wiz from making yet another push to sign the greatest three-point shooter in NBA history.
From CSN Washington:
"The Wizards have reached out to Ray Allen — again — in hopes of convincing the 39-year-old, if he decides to play rather than retire, to come to D.C., CSNwashington.com confirmed via multiple persons with knowledge of the situation Friday. (…)First, the Wizards are waiting to get a definitive answer from Allen if he’s returning for another season. According to two people with knowledge of the situation, Allen’s agent Jim Tanner hasn’t told the Wizards that they wouldn’t be an option."
Though the Wizards a strong team, it’s truly difficult to envision a scenario in which Allen heads to Washington. Allen is known to be great friends with Cavs superstar LeBron James from their time playing together on the Miami Heat. If that’s not enough, living in Los Angeles and playing under former coach Doc Rivers has to appeal greatly to Allen as well.
However, it’s hard to fault Washington for giving it a shot, especially since they landed Allen’s former teammate, Paul Pierce, this summer in free agency.
Allen averaged 9.6 points on 37.5 percent shooting from beyond the arc this past season with Miami.
