Thursday was bad for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Unfortunately, the future may be worse as Josh McCown reportedly suffered a ‘significant sprain’ to his throwing hand says Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times.
#Bucs QB Josh McCown has a significant sprain and will see a hand specialist Mon. All options remain open but unlikely to play vs. Pitts

Despite reports of McCown missing at least a weeks-plus time because of injury, the Tampa Buccaneers, according to Stroud, are optimistic of his recovery time.
The Bucs are hopeful QB Josh McCown can play Sept. 28 vs. Pitt with thumb sprain. Better gauge will come Mon. Could miss a game or two.

For Buccaneers fans, they may be a bit relieved that McCown might miss time after his outing against the Atlanta Falcons on Thursday. Blown out 56-14, McCown was 5-of-12 for 58 yards and an interception before being replaced. His replacement in Mike Glennon improved the play at quarterback, throwing for 121 yards on 17 completed passes and a touchdown.
Despite Glennon outperforming McCown, head coach Lovie Smith is sticking with his guns by keeping McCown as the starting quarterback when he returns from injury.
With McCown being owed $10 million this season, it won’t be a surprise if Smith rides the McCown-train until the wheels fall off.
