Riley Cooper is losing his role with Philadelphia Eagles
By Josh Hill
The Philadelphia Eagles are crafting an offense that can’t seem to lose a game, even when they’re down and out. The first two weeks of the season have seen the Eagles rally from rather significant deficits to win games and that’s something that has a lot of fans in Philly excited about what is happening.

One player who may not be totally stoked about what is going on though is wide receiver Riley Cooper. After having a breakout year last season, Cooper’s production is way down in 2014 and it’s not all his fault. He’s catching what comes his way but the problem is not a whole lot is coming his way.
As pointed out by Jeff McLane from the Philadelphia Inquirer, the addition of Darren Sproles and Zach Ertz has no doubt hurt Cooper’s numbers this season.
"Cooper probably benefited most from Jackson’s departure in terms of his contract, though perhaps not on the field. His role could be diminished with the addition of running back Darren Sproles and the ascension of tight end Zach Ertz. And despite the Eagles’ assertions that Jackson did not open things up for Cooper, there is less proof that last season wasn’t a fluke."
Cooper drew a lot of fire last season for his racist comments in the offseason but he rebounded with a career year. Much of that was thanks to Nick Foles relying on him to fill the void left by Jeremy Maclin and it appears that with Maclin back in the fold, cooper is the odd man out.
