Adrian Beltre, the Texas Rangers’s stellar third baseman, has an odd little quirk, one which opposing players (and teammates) occasionally enjoy exploiting: Beltre hates to have his head touched, and will both dodge would-be touchers and smack back those that do manage to graze his bald head.

Mike Trout, the Los Angeles Angels center fielder, is one of the best players in baseball today, if not the best.

Trout is only in his third year, yet is producing at such a historic level, many players, including veterans who have been around the league for years, respect Trout as much as any veteran.

The Rangers and the Angels played last night, and something happened that was far more important than the 8-5 Angels win which just padded the Halo’s lead for best record in baseball, something monumental. Apparently, Beltre let Trout touch his head after Trout tripled.

No smack from Beltre. No dodge. Not even so much as a glance towards the potential MVP. Beltre kind of just shook his head and seems to stifle a smile. Maybe the Rangers’ brutal season wore him down, or maybe he just has too much respect for someone so Troutstanding. Either way, it’s another historic first for Mike Trout.
