  • That’s right. After winning their first two consecutive games, the Houston Texans went on an abysmal downward spiral last season, recording a losing streak that made even the most optimistic of fans shake their heads in disgust.

Fast forward twelve months, though, and things are looking eerily similar. After a lukewarm win over the Washington Redskins and a fairly sufficient curb-stomping of the Oakland Raiders, the Texans struggled to put themselves on the board against Eli ‘Mr. Interception’ Manning.

Granted, the younger Manning hasn’t been playing in keeping with his career record. It’s possible that he got off to a ridiculously slow start to the season, and has started to pick up steam. The Texans were also missing Arian Foster, which can’t ever help matters.

Texans fans can’t help but draw comparisons, though, especially with the kind of luck they’ve had in the past. Two straight season-opening victories, followed by a loss? No one will blame Houstonians for double-crossing their fingers, knocking on every piece of wood in reach, and praying to the football gods that things turn around. If not… WHY DID THEY BOTHER PLAYING QUARTERBACK HOT POTATO???
