NFL Report: Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart could miss a month with knee injury
By Cory Buck
Carolina Panthers running back Jonathan Stewart could miss a month of playing time after injuring his knee in Sunday night’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. At first, the injury just appeared to be a minor sprain, but the prognosis has since changed according to Joe Person at the Charlotte Observer and now it appears Stewart could miss a good chunk of time.

Stewart missed significant time last season with a sprained MCL, which may have an affect on his recovery time for this injury. It’s not clear if one has to do with another, but hurting one knee then another can make it hard to put weight on either in efforts to rehab them, slowing the process down all around. If Stewart can’t put weight on a re-injured knee, he’ll likely miss at least 4-5 months.
From there, the Panthers will have to dig deep for another running back option. Fortunately it appears that DeAngelo Williams will be ready to return for the Panthers, but who knows how long that will last. Williams and Stewart are likely keeping the local hospitals in business with all the injuries they accrue and the team will likely look to pick up another running back just to fortify the position further in case of injury.
