As the Yankees attempt a final push for a postseason spot in Derek Jeter’s farewell season, they need a miracle. They need to win out and then hope that there is enough chaos in front of them that 87 wins is good enough for a spot in the one-game AL Wild Card round.

With the odds already stacked against them, the Yankees won’t find any relief as far as their scheduled is concerned. They play a four-game set at home against the first place Baltimore Orioles to start the week, with Baltimore still trying to run down the Los Angeles Angels for home field in the playoffs.

New York then wraps up its season with three games at Fenway Park against the Boston Red Sox. That will hardly be the most intriguing entry in that rivalry’s long history, but goodness knows that the Red Sox would love to play a role in keeping the Yankees out of the 2014 playoffs.

In a season undone by injuries, the Yankees enter what will likely be the final week of Jeter’s career hoping to pull off the impossible, needing a lot of help in the process.
