Who do the Oakland Athletics play the rest of the 2014 season?
By Hayden Kane
Trying to fend off the possibility of an epic collapse, the Oakland Athletics start the final week of the 2014 season with a 0.5 game lead for the top Wild Card spot. Having already given away a huge division lead to the Los Angeles Angels, the A’s are just trying to make sure they still have a ticket to the dance.

Speaking of the Angels, the A’s start their final week of action with a three-game home set against the division winners. Is it possible that the Angels could further rain on Oakland’s parade by making their life more difficult in the Wild Card race, having already bullied them out of the top spot in the division?
After that home series, the A’s head to Arlington for a four-game series against the Texas Rangers to conclude the season.
That might seem like a walkover final opponent, especially considering that the Rangers are in last place in the division that has the Houston Astros, but not so: Texas is 8-2 in their last 10 games. Despite the off-the-field drama surrounding manager Ron Washington’s resignation, the Rangers are playing good baseball and could prove to be a feisty final opponent.
The Athletics still have to tend to their business during the final week to make sure they make the playoffs ahead of contenders like the Kansas City Royals, Seattle Mariners, and Cleveland Indians, all trying to knock down the door for a postseason berth.
