Xbox One gets a price drop in the UK

Microsoft fans rejoice, your console is becoming a cheaper option, allowing even more gamers to hop into the new generation of gaming consoles. Unfortunately however, this is only good news for those who happen to live across the pond. A price drop is coming for the Xbox One, but at this point in time, it only will apply in the United Kingdom.

Right now the Xbox One is available for sale in the UK for £329.99. At that price point, gamers are able to pick up the Xbox One for less than the cost of the PlayStation 4, which retails for £349.99.

At this point, Microsoft has said that the price drop is only taking place in the United Kingdom, and has not yet announced anything for North America gamers. Looking at the conversion rates, the price is still about $30 more than the Xbox One with a Kinect here in the states.

The new price point is for the Xbox One console only and does not include the Kinect or any games.

Sony has long had a firm grasp on Europe. Many gamers across the pond prefer the PlayStation device, and Microsoft is looking to close the gap. Bundles are nice, but a price drop is always going to be the strongest incentive to buy.

At this point, it would seem more likely that a nice bundle would be introduced for North American gamers come the holidays. A price drop just doesn’t look to be on the horizon for North America, and with sales where they are, that’s probably the right decision.
