The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have yet to rule out starting quarterback Josh McCown for their Week 4 tilt against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

However, all signs have pointed to McCown missing the contest due to a thumb injury and the Bucs rolling with second-year player Mike Glennon as their signal caller. The latest sign: Tampa Bay coach Love Smith’s comments about the situation Wednesday, according to Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times.
Smith says there is a good chance that Mike Glennon will start this week

While, again, Smith doesn’t flat-out name Glennon his starter, Stroud read between the lines here.
In other words Mike Glennon is starting.

Considering McCown wasn’t very effective when healthy, sitting him in a banged-up state for Glennon is a no-brainer.
Glennon played in relief of McCown in the team’s Week 3 loss to the Atlanta Falcons. Glennon threw for 121 yards and a touchdown on 17-24 passing for a 96.0 passer rating. McCown was 5-12 for 58 yards and an interception (22.2 passer rating) before suffering the thumb injury.
McCown simply hasn’t been what Tampa Bay expected him to be when they signed him this past offseason, and Glennon very well could give the team a better chance to win.
The Bucs drafted Glennon with the No. 73 pick of the 2013 NFL Draft.
