Orlando Magic need to pursue a superstar
The Orlando Magic have done a nice job of collecting young talent in center Nikola Vučević, forwards Tobias Harris and Maurice Harkless and guard Victor Oladipo. They added more this year when they selected former Arizona Wildcats’ forward Aaron Gordon with the fourth-overall pick and acquired the 10th-overall pick in the draft, former Louisiana Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns’ point guard Elfrid Payton.

All of those players look like they could become solid starters and some (Oladipo) could even be future all-stars but none of them look like the kind of player that could carry a team.
Brian Schmitz of The Orlando Sentinel thinks it is time for the Magic to make a big move.
"You usually win in the NBA with stars – your own or others you steal. If any team knows that through the years, it’s Orlando.Hennigan is seemingly testing the theory or perhaps bucking it, focusing on collectivism over individualism, an anti-Dwight sort of mantra. The Magic will have major cap room available for the next two summers to help Hennigan speed the process. They’ve never been afraid to spend Rich DeVos’ money. Now we’ll see if Orlando still appeals to the recruits; the Magic’s last big-time signee was Rashard Lewis, in 2007……Instead of landing Andrew Wiggins or Jabari Parker or Joel Embiid, the Magic settled for Gordon at No. 4 and Elfrid Payton Jr. at No. 10. Gordon and Payton might turn into very good players, but the superstar money is on Wiggins, Parker and Embiid."
The Magic did show signs of looking to veterans to improve by signing big man Channing Frye and guard Ben Gordon, but those still aren’t the type of players they need to truly develop into a contender. Perhaps they are planning on being a major player in free agency next year. Two of their own – Harris and Vučević – will wind up as restricted free agents in 2015 if they don’t agree to extensions by October 31.
