These rankings are a bit closer to being correct, but they still are overrating the Bengals. They will have to prove that they are this good over the next two or three weeks before they get that type of attention. ESPN did get the Seahawks correctly at number one, but they still have to put the Broncos at number two after pushing Seattle to a close overtime finish.

In the middle of the rankings, they were much more accurate than CBS Sports. Indianapolis is ranked a bit higher despite the poor record, and they dropped the 49ers after the poor play that they have displayed. It’s hard to put Tampa Bay above Jacksonville for the worst team in the league, but that isn’t a huge deal breaker.

This was a very solid piece of work by ESPN, but they have put too much stock into the Bengals’ start. The Seahawks and Broncos are still the two best teams in the league, and that is a fact. It will be interesting to see where they have everyone next week.
