Veteran guard Ray Allen has not decided whether or not he will return next season and almost certainly won’t participate in training camp.

More from Cleveland Cavaliers

In fact, Chuck Myron of Hoops Rumors now believes Allen will wait until mid-season to sign.

"The Cavs anticipate starting training camp without you, even as they remain confident you’ll eventually sign with them, Ray, as Jason Lloyd of the Akron Beacon Journal wrote this week. So that’s a pretty strong hint that you aren’t going to be in anybody’s training camp, which makes sense for a guy at this stage of his career. I’m starting to think you’ll sign sometime in the middle of the regular season, Ray."

The Cleveland Cavaliers seem to be the favorite to land Allen but other reports have indicated the San Antonio Spurs may be. A return to he Miami Heat also could be in the cards. Perhaps waiting until a month or two into the regular season could help him make his decision.

Allen averaged 9.6 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game while shooting 44.2% from the field, 37.5% from three and 90.5% from the free throw line last season. Allen, was originally selected by the Minnesota Timberwolves with the fifth-overall pick in the first round of the 1996 NBA Draft and was dealt to dealt to the Milwaukee Bucks. He has since  played for the Seattle Supersonics, Boston Celtics and Miami Heat.Over the course of his brilliant, 18-year career,  he has averaged 18.9 points, 4.1 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game while shooting 45.2% from the field, 40.0% from beyond the arc and 89.4% from the free throw line.
