The Minnesota Vikings have watched their roster get shredded the past few weeks. It started with losing star running back Adrian Peterson due to his impending child abuse case, and ended last week with Matt Cassel, Brandon Fusco, and Kyle Rudolph succumbing to injury. Today, the Vikings are looking at other options.

Dion Lewis, the former Philadelphia Eagles, Cleveland Browns, and Indianapolis Colts running back was recently invited to Winter Park for a tryout. With only Matt Asiata, Jerrick McKinnon, and Joe Banyard as options, the Vikings are looking at all possibilities.
Adrian Peterson isn’t someone you are just going to replace, but the market is also relatively thin. The biggest free-agent name may be BenJarvus Green-Ellis.
Joining Lewis for tryout were tight ends Ryan Otten and Jake Stoneburner, as well as Minnesota Vikings former third string quarterback, McLeod Bethel-Thompson.

Bethel-Thompson is familiar with the Vikings and was released after Teddy Bridgewater was brought into the fold. With the injury to Cassel, former Vikings first-round pick, Christian Ponder, will be forced to suit up as the second string quarterback each week.
Otten and Stoneburner are options with Kyle Rudolph slated to miss the next six weeks after his injury.
Look for the Minnesota Vikings to have a very different look this weekend at home against the Atlanta Falcons as they filter through the next man up mantra. It’s time for the Vikings to make due with what they have.
