Jeffrey Taylor of the Charlotte Hornets has been arrested on a domestic assault charge, WCNC  has reported. Taylor was arrested early Thursday morning at around 1 a.m. and has since been charged with one count of domestic assault, assault and malicious destruction of property. His bond has been set at $5,000.

Taylor, 25, has been with the Hornets’ franchise for two seasons after being taken with the first pick in the second round of the 2012 NBA Draft. He’s under contract for this season and will become a restricted free agent next summer.

Taylor has provided steady bench production at the wing when he’s played, however, he missed all but 26 games last season with an injured Achilles’ tendon. At 6’7 225 pounds, Taylor looks the part of the NBA small forward, and he certainly has some skill and athletic talent, but with his recent injury history and now this crippling domestic assault charge, one has to wonder if he’ll be able to overcome this mounting turmoil and actually even play for the Hornets this season.

The NFL has come under fire in a big way because of domestic violence, so it’ll be very interesting to see how Adam Silver and the National Basketball Association handle Taylor and these assault charges against him.
