It was a goosebumps-worthy moment as Derek Jeter strode to the plate for the first at-bat of his final game as a member of the New York Yankees at Yankee Stadium.

That would have been the case regardless of the outcome of the at-bat. Bob Sheppard introduced Jeter, he made his way to the plate, and fans gave him an ovation worthy of one of the final at-bats of his illustrious career. There wasn’t much that could ruin that moment.

It was possible for Jeter to add to it, of course, and he did just that when he cranked an RBI double off the left field wall, scoring lead-off man Brett Gardner. Knowing Jeter, he will primarily be interested in the outcome of this hit because it increases his team’s win expectancy. Even in a game that doesn’t matter in the standings, you know Jeter will run through a wall for his team to get a win.

Check out video of the double below.
