Thursday night is sure to be one of the more memorable nights in the illustrious history of the New York Yankees as Derek Jeter takes the field for the final time in front of his home crowd before he packs up the cleats for good after this weekend. Of course it goes without saying that the Yankee home crowd was going to make sure that Jeter got the attention he deserves, and that they did.

As is customary at all Yankee home games, the bleacher creatures in right field go around the infield when the Yankees are on defense and do the roll call. Basically, they call out every player’s name until they are acknowledged with either a hat ti[ or a wave of the glove.
Well as you would expect, when they got to Jeter’s final call of his career, they showed a bit of extra enthusiasm.
Everything about this night just has to give you chills, not just if you’re a Yankees fan, but just a fan of the game of baseball in general.
What made the night even more special was, just a short time after this took place and the Yankees had their first turn at bat, Jeter began his final night at home with a double.
