Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin expects to play vs. Steelers
By Josh Hill
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are still searching for their first win of the season this year, and they’re hoping to get it against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday. That’s a tall order for a team that just surrendered 56 points on a nationally televised game, but it’s not an impossible task.

One thing that can help ensure the Bucs are at least competitive on Sunday is if they can get back injured players who have been absent in all of the losing. Doug Martin has been out two weeks with an ankle injury but is looking to come back this Sunday. According to The Pewter Report, the Buccaneers running back is expecting to play this Sunday against the Steelers and return to action for the first time since Week 1.
"“It’s a business of, ‘what have you done for me lately?’ ” Martin said Thursday afternoon. “I just want to go out there and prove that I’m that same back I was my rookie year. … The knee’s coming along just fine. Full go in practice and I expect to play in this upcoming game.”"
Martin has been less than stellar since his rookie season in 2012 when he blew up over the last few weeks of the season. Since then, he’s been often injured, his production hasn’t been all that high and there has been talk of replacing him with Bobby Rainey and Mike James.
Rainey literally fumbled that away on Thursday night last week which means getting Martin back as starter is a huge plus.
