Notre Dame Fighting Irish vs. Syracuse Orange

It will be Notre Dame’s first trip outside of Indiana this season and the first meeting between the schools in six seasons. Keys to Victory

Notre Dame needs to stay efficienct in the red zone, where they are 14-for-14 this season, and stay on the positive side of the turnover ledger—the Irish are plus-8 in three games. Syracuse fell victim to the big play against the Terps, giving up an 88-yard interception return for a touchdown and a blocked punt that led to another Maryland score. It’s tough to lose when you outgain a team 370-89 on the ground, but the Orange figured out how to do it.

Betting Odds

Prediction

Golson is a different animal this year than he was when he led Notre Dame to the BCS National Championship in 2012. In three games, he’s a 64.6 percent passer and has seven touchdown tosses—he had 12 TDs all season and completed 58.8 percent of his passes in 2012. The Fighting Irish are also tops in the nation in red-zone offense and turnover margin. Given Syracuse’s tendency to shoot itself in the foot, that’s a bad combination.

Final Score: Notre Dame 28, Syracuse 19
