The AP has reported that Indiana Pacers star forward Paul George will begin weight training on his upper body after being given the go ahead by doctors. George has also been cleared to start putting weight on his right leg after tragically breaking it in a Team USA scrimmage back on August 1.

More from Indiana Pacers

This comes as good news to George, who has had a string of bad luck as of late, first with his horrifying accident that brought fellow teammates to tears, and then again more recently with his untimely and unpopular twitter comments regarding the Ray Rice domestic violence dispute. It appeared to some as though George was making light of the hot button topic.

George isn’t expected to play this season, but as with any major injury, each step in the rehabilitation process is critical. Pacers fans can take comfort in knowing that their superstar player is one step and one day closer to making news for his actions on the court rather than off it.

Last season George had his most productive year with the Pacers, averaging better than 21 points, six rebounds, and three assists per game.  The injury has cast major doubt on his future in the NBA, but being that George is only 24-years-old, there’s a good chance he’ll  make a full recovery and return his previously established all-star form.
