Report: Vikings’ Brandon Fusco will have surgery Monday
ESPN’s Ben Goessling has reported that injured Minnesota Viking Brandon Fusco will have surgery on Monday to repair his torn right pectoral muscle. The right guard Fusco is considered to be one of the Vikings’ top offensive lineman, and his replacement Vlad Ducassi has his work cut out for him.

Vikings offensive coordinator Norv Turner shared his thoughts on Ducassi, and the offensive line in general:
“He’s a big, physical player and he’s worked awfully hard since he’s gotten here to get in there,” offensive coordinator Norv Turner said. “I think he’s improved a great deal in his pass protection. We know those guys are going to be challenged. Not only do you have a new guy in there but he’s new working, he’s new to our system, so he’s new working with the right tackle, working with the center. That’s the one thing in the offensive line: Continuity is so critical and we just have to be prepared for the different looks they give us.”
The Vikings’ once promising season has turned bleak over the past two weeks with the removal of Adrian Peterson from the team roster, and more recently with the injuries to quarterback Matt Cassel, tight end Kyle Rudolph, and now to Fusco as well. If they hope to remain relevant, they’ll need Ducassi and the rest of the offensive line to hold steady while trying to protect rookie first-round pick Teddy Bridgewater.
The Vikings play the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday, who are coming off a 56-14 beat down of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
