The Miami Dolphins opened up the season with a big win over the New England Patriots, but they have sputtered in back-to-back weeks as they have fallen to a 1-2 record.

A lot of the issues have been on the offensive side of the ball and now the Dolphins receivers are speaking out.

“I think we’ve been probably pretty average,” wide receiver Brian Hartline said per the Miami Sun-Sentinel.

While Ryan Tannehill could be better as well, it’s hard to overlook a receiving corps that eats up more than $20 million of cap space this season.

Mike Wallace makes up the bulk of that with his $15 million cap figure, but Hartline and Brandon Gibson makes up another $2.7 million ad another $8 million.

What have the Dolphins received in exchange for their investment? The 29th ranked passing offense in the NFL.

Tannehill and the offensive line may not be spectacular to this point, but with the talent this team has at wide receiver, the expectations must be higher.

“I guess outside looking in you would always suggest high-paid players are supposed to play well,” Brandon Gibson said, “but I think we can only do what we’re asked, and our thing is just to make plays when they come our way.”
