While short, Jeter penned a meaningful letter than simply put his feeling encompassing that past 20 years into words. The Yankees are watching their Captain step away, but he power behind his words should stick with the organization forever.
Jeter has always been humble, somewhat quiet, and let his ability on the field speak far louder than his words. However, something as powerful as the letter he addressed to the fans of New York will be felt for many years to come.

The principles Jeter discusses ever so briefly are the exact culmination of why he was thought of exactly how he is. He had a drive unparalleled and was always fueling his fire. Despite The Captain moving on from the game of baseball, he has left the sport in a better place than it was before he got here, and he leaves having shown exactly how to do things the right way.
Derek Jeter will go down as one of the greatest shortstops to play the game, and there’s no arguing that both on and off the field, he was someone who wore the pinstripes in a way that made if hard not to appreciate what he did for baseball.
Thank you Derek.
