Matt Cassel undergoes surgery
The Minnesota Vikings have been decimated by losing players this season. If it wasn’t bad enough seeing Adrian Peterson take himself out of the picture for off of the field matters, the injuries have mounted. Kyle Rudolph, Matt Cassel, and Brandon Fusco all were hurt last weekend. Today, Matt Cassel underwent surgery.

Today, the Vikings starting quarterback Matt Cassel underwent surgery on his broken bones on his foot. Brian Hall of Fox Sports North is reporting that no details have been released in regards to how the surgery went or what the time-table looks like for recovery.
At this point however, Cassel has been placed on season ending injured reserve, and the Vikings have been turned over to Teddy Bridgewater.
While it is somewhat silly to deem a surgery successful, as we’d assume Matt Cassel didn’t lose his foot, it will be interesting to see what the rehab schedule looks like. Despite being put on IR, the Vikings haven’t made much noise in regards to what they feel the extent of their quarterback’s injury is.
Look for details to be released in the coming days.
Starting Sunday, the Vikings will begin to lean on their highly praised rookie first round pick, Bridgewater. Once tabbed as the number one overall draft pick, Bridgewater will be put behind a makeshift offensive line. Although the injuries won’t help Bridgewater, Atlanta’s defense is susceptible and the young star could find himself a win in his first start.
