8. Brandon Carr, CB, Dallas Cowboys – $10.02 million

The debate over the top cornerback in the league is up for debate with Patrick Peterson, Richard Sherman, Joe Haden and Darrelle Revis in the conversation and are the highest-paid in the position in that order, but Carr comes in fifth on the list and is not in the same category as the four players listed above.

Carr signed a five-year, $50.10 million contract with the Cowboys, including $25.5 million guaranteed after the Chiefs released him as the Cowboys paid a hefty price to get a player they thought could solve their issues in the secondary. Through three games in the 2014 season, the Cowboys have the league’s No. 21 pass defense and has six interceptions in 35 career games with Dallas.

He is a solid player, but when his salary puts him in the ballpark of the four best at the position and his performance is not commensurate with those four Pro Bowlers.
