Phil Jackson believes the New York Knicks are going to make the playoffs this season after missing the postseason for the first time in four years after winning only 37 games last year.

"“We believe that we’re going to be a playoff team and then we don’t know how far we’ll be able to go,” Jackson said Friday. “We’re hoping for the best.”"
The Knicks re-signed All-Star small forward Carmelo Anthony in an offseason that saw Jackson put his stamp on the roster after trading Raymond Felton and Tyson Chandler away to the Dallas Mavericks for point guard Jose Calderon and center Samuel Dalembert.
Jackson fired coach Mike Woodson and hired Derek Fisher who played on the championship teams Jackson coached with the Los Angeles Lakers but has never been a coach before after just finishing his playing career. He inherits a roster that still has a number of questions after a big turnover with Anthony the only surefire bet to be a starter on the team, but Jackson likes the depth on this team.
“We have really good depth on this team. I think we feel like we’re backed up in every position with some depth, and I think that’s really good,” Jackson said. “Derek can feature what he wants to feature on the different units during preseason and find out who works well together.”
The Knicks have not won an NBA title since 1972-1973 when Jackson was on the team so can Jackson help bring another title to New York?
