Thursday night against the New York Giants already was a debacle for the Washington Redskins and it appeared that things couldn’t get any worse. The unimaginable did indeed happen when Pro Bowl left tackle Trent Williams went down in agony holding his right knee. If losing a game 45-14 to your division rival on national television wasn’t saddening enough, seeing this was a devastating blow.

Finally some good news came out this afternoon for the Redskins when coach Jay Gruden told the media that no MRI was needed on the right knee of Williams. Gruden also stated that there was no instability on the knee of prized offensive lineman.

Williams is an important player on this Redskins roster. Offensive linemen are often overlooked and the Redskins have one of the best left tackles in the NFL on their team, and his health is essential to their success this season.

Without a good offensive line, it is difficult for a quarterback to have success, especially when Robert Griffin III is your quarterback. Griffin III is currently out of action with a fractured foot and Kirk Cousins is starting in his place.

Cousins struggled last night against the Giants, throwing four interceptions and he keeps telling reporters that this is Griffin’s team. No matter who is the starting quarterback, the Redskins will need the offensive line to protect them. This news about Williams is great news for the Redskins.
