The Cleveland Cavaliers traded for Keith Bogans this past week, but his tenure in Cleveland wasn’t long at all. Before he could even settle in, the Cavs flipped Bogans to the Philadelphia 76ers for a pretty cushy trade exception.

It wasn’t all they got back though, as the Cavaliers also received a second round pick for their troubles. Bogans isn’t a valuable asset, but he proved to be worth the trouble in Cleveland these last 48 hours.

According to Jason Lloyd from the Akron Beacon Journal, the Cavaliers will be getting a protected second round pick from the Philadelphia 76ers in exchange for Bogans.

Earlier in the day, Marc Stein of ESPN reported that the second rounder but didn’t note that it was a protected pick.

"Sources told ESPN that the Sixers will receive a future second-round pick from the Cavs for taking on Bogans, whose $5.3 million salary this season and $5.5 million salary next season are fully unguaranteed. The Cavs will create a $5.3 million trade exception in the process."

As Lloyd points out, the real benefit here is the trade exception that the Cavs are getting, as they desperately need a rim protector and while likely be looking at a trade this season to get one.
