The Cincinnati Reds did some spoilin’ in their final series of the season, defeating the Pittsburgh Pirates in extra innings by a final score of 10-6. In so doing, the Reds made it such that the St. Louis Cardinals can clinch a National League Central title with a win over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Saturday night, which would leave the Pirates in the Wild Card game.

It was an exciting game on Saturday, and certainly the Pirates had their chances to win it and keep a stronger hold in the NL Central race. The game went to extra innings tied at 6-6, at which point the Pirates’ bullpen got itself in some trouble.
John Axford, who started the season with the Cleveland Indians, entered the game for the Pirates in the bottom of the 10th inning. He fought his command and ultimately walked the bases loaded, leaving manager Clint Hurdle in a bad spot.
Hurdle turned to reliever Bobby LaFromboise. The side-winding lefty recorded the second out of the inning, but could not escape the jam and gave up this walk-off grand slam to the normally light-hitting Ramon Santiago.
