Cain is a three-time All-Star for the Giants and was a stalwart for the team’s 2010 and 2012 World Series winners.
In 2010, he didn’t allow an earned run in three starts and 21.1 postseason innings, posting a 0.938 WHIP.
In 2012, Cain made five starts in the playoffs and was 2-2 with a 3.60 ERA and 1.133 WHIP in 30 innings.
Cain is wrapping up the third year of a six-year, $127.5 million extension he signed with the Giants in April 2012, with the team holding a $21 million option that includes a $7.5 million buyout for 2018.
Cain, who will be 30 on Wednesday, is expected to be ready to go to start spring training in February.
