I will be really surprised if Brady Hoke makes it through the season. In fact, I will be surprised if he makes it through the weekend. The players love him, but they aren’t providing the results on the field to keep him around. After Michigan got beat down by Utah last week, Minnesota comes in and pounds them into their own turf. David Cobb ran for 183 yards, which by the way was more than Michigan had in total offense. Yes, they were that bad. David Cobb had more yards rushing(183) than Michigan had in total offense(171). When was the last time Michigan’s offense was this bad?
A number one team is not a team that destroys everything in their path. A true number one team is one that rallies from a long way down to win a game. Usually on the road. That is exactly what Florida State did on Saturday. They were down 24-7 after this terrific play by North Carolina State quarterback Jacoby Brissett:
Florida State stormed back to win the game by 15 points. Despite all of the best efforts from Brissett. He did this later in the game:

If only the Wolfpack defense could have stopped Florida State, who knows? That said, will this make Florida State better? This could be a polarizing experience for the team. Which way it goes is still up for debate.
Arkansas had every chance to put away Texas A&M, but the Aggies battled back for an overtime win. Still, this isn’t anywhere close to the Arkansas team that stumbled through the SEC last year. They will knock someone off this year. We saw the improvement by the time they scared the bejesus out of LSU last year. Now the Razorbacks are a team that run the ball right down your throat. Call it the retro theme in college football.
Perhaps the fan reaction was even better than the play itself!

Once again, California was involved in another entertaining game. This week Colorado took them into double overtime. The only difference was Cal pulled this one off. Who doesn’t enjoy watching a 59-56 game? Cal’s Jared Goff and Colorado’s Sefo Liufau both threw seven touchdowns and an interception. On top of that, they both threw for 449 yards. Exactly! Defenses need not apply!
The Texas defense picked off Kansas four times en route to a shutout victory. This gets Texas back to 2-2. So they now have the same record as Kansas, though they did lose to two ranked teams. This is the first time that the Texas defense has pitched a shutout since September 8, 2012 against New Mexico.
Chris Peterson’s aggressiveness got the best of him, and cost his team the game. Washington faked a punt from inside their own 30 with eight minutes remaining and tied with Stanford at 13-13. They did not convert, and Stanford scored what would be the game winning touchdown. Then on the ensuing kickoff, the Cardinal kicked the ball out of bounds. Peterson declined the penalty to give Washington’s return men another chance. They were stopped inside the 20, which sacrificed 19 yards of field position. I can kind of see the point in the fake, especially since the defense was playing well, but that is all the more reason to punt it. They were pinning Stanford deep for the whole second half. Do it again and see if you can get a big play from your defense.
Do you still think that Ohio State is reeling after the loss to Virginia Tech? The Buckeyes have outscored Kent State and Cincinnati 116-28 in the games since.
