The New York Knicks are rebuilding their roster, and part of that rebuilding has meant shipping away pieces that have worked in the past. Tyson Chandler was traded to the Dallas Mavericks this summer and all eyes are now focused at the moment on Iman Shumpert and what will happen with him.

He began to show promise a few years ago but suffered a torn ACL that set him back. He hasn’t returned to that same level since, and there are doubts about his future in New York.

As Steve Kyler from Basketball Insiders opines, the Knicks look likely to take the restricted free agency route when it comes to determining fair market value for their guard.

This is something to monitor throughout the season, as Shumpert drew trade offers last season and could be on the move if the Knicks continue to be noncommittal about his future.

Of course, that doesn’t mean a trade will for sure happen, but the Knicks are going to have a wait-and-see approach to their long term relationship with the guard and may seek to get something out of him if they deem him an expendable asset.
