Over the summer, a report surfaced that Rondo wanted out of Boston. Rondo and his camp have since denied the rumors and both he and the Celtics continue to say they’d like to work out a long-term deal.
Over the weekend, it was revealed that Rondo had a broken hand and speculation about why began. That’s just another reason many believe the Celtics are indeed looking to trade Rondo.
However, according to both Ben Rohrbach of WEEI and Baxter Holmes of The Boston Globe, Rondo continues to say he wants to remain in Boston.
Returning from his ACL injury, Rondo averaged 11.7 points, 9.8 assists, 5.5 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game while shooting 40.3% from the field, 28.9% from beyond the arc and 62.7% from the free throw line last season. Rondo, who was originally selected by the Celtics with the 21st-overall pick in the 2006 NBA Draft, has averaged 11.1 points, 8.4 assists, 4.6 rebounds and 1.9 steals per game while shooting 47.5% from the floor, 25.2% from three and 62.1% from the free throw line in his eight-year NBA career.
