No one would ever criticize Russell Westbrook for having a lack of confidence.

So there should be little surprise that the Oklahoma City Thunder point guard proclaimed himself the best point guard in basketball on Monday, according to ESPN’s Royce Young.
Westbrook was asked if he agreed with Thunder coach Scott Brooks’ assessment that he was the league’s top floor general.
"“I do,” he said. “I’m very honored to hear him say that, but that’s how I feel. I mean, I don’t know what to tell you.”"
Brooks effusively praised Westbrook earlier in the day.
"“I believe Russell is the best point guard in basketball,” Brooks said, unprompted. “That’s happened over time. I’ve seen Russell every practice, every game, every film session, and he’s really put a lot of time into being the best point guard in basketball.”"
One can’t really fault Westbrook for having confidence in himself or Brooks talking highly of his players, although it’s obviously fair to disagree with the assessment.
Regardless, Westbrook is an elite NBA talent and if he’s not the league’s top point guard, he’s certainly among the best. Westbrook averaged 21.8 points, 6.9 assists and 5.7 rebounds per game this past season
The Thunder selected him with the No. 4 pick of the 2008 NBA Draft.
