Lovie Smith is not committing to quarterback Mike Glennon after he led the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to a thrilling comeback in the final seconds on Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers to pick up their first win of the season.

Glennon started in place of the injured Josh McCown who is expected to test his injured thumb on Monday to determine if he will require surgery. Smith was asked if Glennon would remain the starter if McCown is cleared to play and declined to give a definitive answer and spouted off a tired cliche.

Smith said of Glennon: when you're labeled the QB of the future that's the way you should play. The future came earlier than expected.

So Glennon is the quarterback of the future, at least for until the 2015 NFL Draft plays out, but will he the quarterback of the present?
