WWE Monday Night Raw Takeaways: Dean Ambrose steals the show and more

Last week’s WWE Monday Night Raw left a lot to be desired. No Brock Lesnar. No Paul Heyman. And storylines were not elevated following Night of Champions.

But this week’s Raw added some comedy and intrigued your mind on what might happen in the future, including who will feud with Seth Rollins and the reemergence of the Wyatt Family.  Plus, Hulk Hogan made an appearance. Too bad he’s a walking billboard these days.

Here are my five takeaways from last night’s episode:

1. Dean Ambrose slimes Seth Rollins, but Rollins ends show on top

Dean Ambrose is hot right now. With Roman Reigns and Daniel Bryan on the shelf, this is the perfect time for the WWE to showcase Ambrose on the mic and in segments similar to the one we saw last night.

While I don’t like Seth Rollins and Ambrose going back and forth interfering in each other’s matches, the slime segment was a nice change of place in the continued feud between the former Shield members.

I know the implication was something else, but the electric razor bit was hilarious and pushed the ‘PG’ era standards. Feed me more, please.

Rollins did end the show on top, serving Curb Stomps to Ambrose and John Cena. But the star of the show was Ambrose. I predict he will be next year’s Daniel Bryan.

2. Hulk Hogan needs more camera time and a storyline

Hulkamania has been running wild for over 30 years. And when Hulk Hogan makes an appearance, he still gets one of the biggest reactions from the crowd. It’s time to for the WWE to capitalize.

The perfect role for Hogan would be Raw GM. He doesn’t have to wrestle and still gets plenty of camera time to feed his ego. The Authority needs a high-profile superstar to lead the charge against them. Hogan is the perfect fit.

We all know Hogan loves to control creative and what will and will not happen when it comes to the character of Hulk Hogan. But right now, he’s getting paid to advertise the WWE Network and the latest promotion. I’m sure he wouldn’t mind the extra money for being on TV every week.

Not only would it add excitement to the live crowd, but I’m sure the TV ratings would increase. Cannot go any lower than 2.69.

3. New WWE stooges

During the Attitude Era, everyone remembers Gerald Brisco and Pat Patterson as Vince McMahon’s stooges. Whether is was comedy bits or getting in the ring, those two were great and added another element when it came to McMahon’s faction.

Former WWE Superstars Jamie Noble and Joey Mercury, now agents, made a similar appearance on last night’s Raw. Given the task of finding Ambrose, they were unsuccessful and even were accused of eating a hot dog on the job. This can only get better and WWE should cash in.

Both look like they can still compete in the ring and would provide an extra segment on TV if they had to compete for a Rollins against Cena and Ambrose. And if something goes against The Authority, they can always blame the stooges.

Win-win situation for the WWE.

4. The Wyatt Family make a return…sort of

Poor Wyatt Family. Going from being one of the hottest things in the WWE to not even making the show last week. They did make a return his week, but only through pre-taped vignettes.

And judging from the context of the vignettes, it seems like Luke Harper will be getting a singles push. I’m all for it. But what about Bray Wyatt?

The next pay-per-view is Hell in a Cell. You would assume this would be a perfect show for Wyatt. But he’s stuck without a feud and in WWE purgatory. WWE is dropping the ball.

Wyatt’s last feud was with Chris Jericho and didn’t help with getting Wyatt over. One might say this was Jericho’s worst run with the company.

While Wyatt is still considered a heel, it’s hard to pair him up with a possible face to battle with. Cena is taken. Ambrose is taken.

My only suggestion would be having Wyatt and Dolph Ziggler start a program. I know Ziggler seems to be moving on to a feud with Cesaro, and that would be entertaining. But Wyatt-Ziggler battling for the Intercontinental Title would be great to watch until the Royal Rumble. Turn Cesaro face and have him go against Rusev. Problem solved.

5. Still no main event for Hell in a Cell

Another week, another no-show from Brock Lesnar. Paul Heyman did come out on Lesnar’s behalf, but we still don’t know if the WWE World Heavyweight Champion will compete in late October. I know it’s early, but if the WWE wants to promote the event and get the most money, they need to have some sort of a direction for Lesnar and his opponent.

The way Raw ended, it may seem a triple-threat match between Cena, Ambrose and Rollins will take place at HIAC. But with the match actually take place in a cell? Would be interesting to see how a triple-threat match would do inside the structure.

So who will take on Lesnar? Your guess is as good as mine. Cena would be an obvious choice, who could later on this year get his revenge on Rollins. This is where Reigns will be missed.

Moore thoughts: Please, no more wrestlers in animal outfits…time for the WWE to stop shoving Total Divas down our throat with poor matches…like I mentioned earlier, give Rusev a feud with Cesaro…Big Show tearing down Rusev’s flag was the best thing he’s done in months, even years…Miz vs. Sheamus again, please no…Miz vs. Mizdow, yes please.
