More from College Football Odds

At a glance, this might have been a decent week. Not as good as I had hoped, but anything over .500 is welcome at this point.

Winners against the spread are in bold.

Appalachian State at Georgia Southern(-17.5): HIT! This team might run the option better than the military schools.

Texas Tech at Oklahoma State(-14.5): MISS! The Cowboy defense looked average at best in this one.

UCLA(-3.5) at Arizona State: HIT! I didn’t expect UCLA to blow them out, but we all knew their offense was capable of this. Can they sustain it?

Middle Tennessee State at Old Dominion(-3.5): MISS! I won’t be giving the Monarchs the benefit of the doubt anymore. That defense is trouble….

Fresno State(-5.5) at New Mexico: MISS! I underestimated just how average the Lobos are…..

Iowa(-8.5) at Purdue: HIT! This was about the easiest money of the weekend.

UTEP at Kansas State(-27.5): MISS! UTEP came back and made it closer to the spread, but this was never really in doubt. The K-State defense dominated the first half.

Wyoming at Michigan State(-28.5): MISS! Sparty looks like a well oiled machine right now. Why did I pick against them again?

Northwestern at Penn State(-11.5): MISS! This was probably the shocker of the weekend.

TCU(-31.5) at SMU: HIT! SMU needs help, and fast! This may already be a lost season, but they need to find their coach of the future to get some direction.

South Florida at Wisconsin(-33.5): MISS! The Bulls might be the second most improved team behind Arkansas.

Tulane at Rutgers(-12.5): HIT! Week on A.J. (after Paul James) went pretty well for the Knights.

Tennessee at Georgia(-16.5): MISS! I really should have known better here. Moral victories still count for the Vols at least.

Vanderbilt at Kentucky(-17.5): MISS! Vandy’s defense is about the only bright spot. That offense is a disaster.

Colorado State at Boston College(-8.5): MISS! Okay, this was the shocker of the weekend, especially with as good as BC looked against USC.

Western Michigan at Virginia Tech(-21.5): MISS! So much for the Hokie defense……

Akron at Pittsburgh(-19.5): MISS! When a 20 point dog wins by 11 on the road, bad things usually happen to the losing team’s coach. Just saying…..

Maryland at Indiana(-3.5): HIT! The Terrapins look really good right now. This offense is legit, and the defense isn’t all that bad either.

Bowling Green(-5.5) at Massachusetts: MISS! Stupid half point……

Western Kentucky at Navy(-7.5): MISS! The home teams continue to struggle.

Minnesota at Michigan(-13.5): HIT! Hoke’s seat must feel like a toilet seat in Hell right about now…..

Kent State at Virginia(-27.5): HIT! I’m glad Virginia hit the gas in the second half.

Florida International at UAB(-16.5): MISS! The Blazers looked really really bad in this one.

Florida State(-18.5) at North Carolina State: MISS! That’s what I get for bucking trends. The Seminoles’ struggles in Raleigh continued until the second half rolled around and the Wolfpack rolled over.

Wake Forest at Louisville(-21.5): HIT! Louisville needs their weapons back on offense, and quickly.

Miami(OH) at Buffalo(-6.5): HIT! I guess the whole home field is worth seven points thing is true.

Arkansas vs. Texas A&M(-9.5) HIT! Arkansas is easily the most improved team in the country right now. They had the Aggies on the ropes, but couldn’t close them out.

Colorado at California(-13.5): MISS! These two QBs combined for 14 touchdown passes. 14! A great game to watch, but not to bet on.

Temple(-6.5) at Connecticut: HIT! The Owls might be the best team in the state of Pennsylvania right now…..

Louisiana Tech at Auburn(-33.5): MISS! The Aubie defense didn’t hold up their end of the bargain.

Texas(-12.5) at Kansas: HIT! The Jayhawks were so bad they got Charlie Weis fired!

Stanford(-7.5) at Washington: MISS! I knew I hated the half.

South Alabama(-4.5) at Idaho: HIT! Idaho is still Idaho, after all.

UTSA(-4.5) at Florida Atlantic: HIT! My 1977 quarter never fails! Maybe I should flip it for every game.

Cincinnati at Ohio State(-17.5): MISS! The Buckeyes have dominated for the last couple of weeks.

Missouri at South Carolina(-5.5): MISS! Spurrier was right. Maybe the Gamecocks aren’t very good by SEC standards…..

North Carolina at Clemson(-14.5): HIT! The Tarheels are might be the worst team in the ACC. They definitely have the worst defense…..

Boise State(-13.5) at Air Force: MISS! What a horrible showing the by Broncos. That is the worst they have looked in more than a decade…..

Troy at Louisiana-Monroe(-13.5): MISS! Troy finally showed up for a game!

Rice(-8.5) at Southern Mississippi: MISS! I knew better…..

Central Michigan at Toledo(-13.5): HIT! Too close for comfort!

Duke at Miami(FL)(-6.5): MISS! The Hurricanes needed this.

Memphis at Mississippi(-20.5): HIT! Whew! That one was too close as well!

New Mexico State at LSU(-43.5): MISS! Who would have thought that replacing the QB would suddenly jump-start the offense?

Washington State at Utah(-13.5): HIT! I was in the minority here, but the Cougars have figured something out. You don’t stay that close to Oregon without playing very well.

UNLV at San Diego State(-18.5): MISS! So much for “safe”.

Notre Dame(-9.5) vs. Syracuse: HIT! The Irish defense is pretty darn good.

Texas State at Tulsa(-3.5): HIT! This could be a looooong year for Tulsa.

Baylor(-21.5) at Iowa State: HIT! I’m glad that the Cyclones were able to keep them out of the end zone inside a minute left!

Illinois at Nebraska(-21.5): HIT! The Huskers are partying (and running) like it’s 1994.

Oregon State at USC(-9.5) HIT! The Trojan pass defense is very good.

Nevada(-5.5) at San Jose State: HIT! Who would have thought that the defense would clinch this?

The final tally for the week was 25-27, which puts my season total at 106-126. 20 games under .500 going into conference play is not good. It will take roughly 60% accuracy from here on out to reach my goal. On the bright side, there is nowhere to go but up!
