ESPN College Football Challenge picks for week 6

For those of you that don’t know, ESPN College Football Challenge is the closest you can get to college fantasy football on ESPN.  You get to comprise a roster of two quarterbacks, two runnings backs, two wide receivers, a team kicker, and a team defense.  The scoring is very similar to NFL scoring.

Last week I missed taking James Conner over Ameer Abdullah. Tommy Armstorong and Tony Lippett both had average days. C.J. Brown and Melvin Gordon were about the only two that came through in a big way.

Here are the picks for week 6:

Quarterbacks:

Connor Halliday, Washington State: It’s not often that I will go with a guy that is more than 25% owned, but with Halliday going against a defense that allowed 53 fantasy points to a quarterback last week, the chances of Halliday going for 40 or more are too great to pass on. He put up 32 against a decent Utah team last week.

Shane Carden, East Carolina: Carden is going against an SMU team that is just plain awful. This should be an easy 30 points.

Other options: Jameis Winston vs. Wake Forest, Tyler Jones vs. Idaho, Rakeem Cato at Old Dominion

Running Backs:

Todd Gurley, Georgia: Vanderbilt has been pretty bad so far this year. While teams have mostly gouged them through the air, look for the Bulldogs to pound it out on the ground. With Sony Michel out indefinitely, look for Gurley to get at least 20 carries. For him, that should net him close to 200 yards.

Donnel Pumphrey, San Diego State: The Bulldogs have been attacked by the run in every game this year. Look for a huge game for Pumphrey!

Other options: Melvin Gordon at Northwestern, Tevin Coleman vs. North Texas, Karlos Williams vs. Wake Forest

Wide Receivers:

Nelson Spruce, Colorado: You just can’t take this guy out of the lineup! He has scored 22 or more fantasy points in every game so far this year!

Kevin White, West Virginia: With Trickett clearly more comfortable in the offense, White has been the primary beneficiary. He has 20 or more points in every game against FBS schools. In fact, they have all been solid teams: Alabama, Oklahoma, and Maryland. He will get his touches, and likely do something with them.

Other options: Amari Cooper at Mississippi, Antonio Vaughn vs. Marshall, Leonte Carroo vs. Michigan

Kickers:

Ohio State: The offense has been humming along, and in what could be a high scoring affair against Maryland, they look like a solid option.

Other options: Michigan State vs. Nebraska, Oklahoma State vs. Iowa State, Alabama at Mississippi

Defense:

Virginia: Pittsburgh has looked well below average in their last three games against Iowa, Florida International, and Akron. The Cavs should have a field day here.

Other options: Rutgers vs. Michigan, Stanford at Notre Dame, Notre Dame vs. Stanford
