The NBA career of rookie Noah Vonleh is going to take a while to get going, as he’s still not healthy enough to be medically cleared from hernia surgery.

More from Charlotte Hornets

Vonleh had hernia surgery over the summer and is still a few weeks away from returning to action. He has yet to be meically cleared to return to the team, but that clearance could be coming soon.

According to Rick Bonnell of the Charlotte Observer, Vonleh expects to be ready to go in the next 2-3 weeks.

"Rookie power forward Noah Vonleh said he hopes to be fully cleared medically in the next two to three weeks, following surgery to repair a sports hernia. … Vonleh is now able to work out on an elliptical machine and start some light shooting and jogging. He says he’s feeling much better in the last week."

It’s crucial that Vonleh use these next three weeks to get as close to 100 percent as possible because basketball starts again soon. The end of the month sees the regular season tip off, and Vonleh figures to be a big part of the Hornets season.

It’s not a given that he’s going to make an impact, but he has the potential. He slipped in the lottery this summer, which means he’ll have something to prove once he returns to the Hornets and starts playing with a vengeance.
