Alabama Crimson Tide vs Ole Miss Rebels

Week 6 of the 2014 college football season features plenty of great matchups, but perhaps the cream of the crop is No. 3 Alabama vs. No. 11 Ole Miss at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium. The Crimson Tide enter this one looking to strengthen its case for being regarded as the best team in the nation, while Ole Miss hopes to secure an enormous win and put themselves in position to make a run at the College Football Playoff.

Details for Saturday’s game are below:

Date: Saturday, Oct. 4
Start time: 3:30 p.m. ET
Location: Oxford, Mississippi
Stadium: Vaught-Hemingway Stadium
TV info: CBS
Live stream: CBS Watch

Keys to Victory

The Crimson Tide are the better football team here. Now, they just have to go out and execute in order to push themselves to 5-0. Rebels quarterback Bo Wallace has played well this season, but Alabama has one of the best defenses in the country and has the ability to make life rough for him and the rest of the Ole Miss offense. On the other side of the ball, Bama needs its quarterback Blake Sims to overcome what will be the toughest atmosphere he’s ever faced.

Alabama’s not the only team with a strong defense in this game. The Rebels have allowed just 8.5 points per game this season, tops in the SEC. Ole Miss needs its defense to keep operating at a high level and force Sims into making mistakes. Offensively, Ole Miss needs to stick with what it does best and let Wallace chuck it throughout the game.

Betting Odds

Point spread: Alabama -6.5
Moneyline:  Rebels +235, Crimson Tide -275
Over/Under: 51.0

Prediction

It won’t come easy, but the Crimson Tide will leave this one with with a victory. Alabama’s offense has been better than expected this season and has the talent to put points on the Rebel defense. With an outstanding defense and plenty of offensive playmakers such as Amari Cooper and T.J. Yeldon, Bama will prove to be too much for Ole Miss.

Final Score: Crimson Tide 28, Rebels 17
