How has Nick Foles played through a quarter of the season?

The Philadelphia Eagles saw Nick Foles emerge to take the starting quarterback job last season when Michael Vick went down with injury, and he played a near perfect season to get into the playoffs. He seemed to fit perfectly into Chip Kelly’s system, but started off this season a bit slower than expected. Nick Foles has started to rebound and get back on track, and has put together a very solid first quarter of the 2014 season.

Nick Foles ended up recording a 3-1 record to go along with 1,173 yards, six touchdowns, and four interceptions. Obviously the turnovers are the major concern throughout the first four games of the season, but he has still been able to lead a very potent offense. It has been very obvious that DeSean Jackson will be missed, but Nick Foles will continue improving and figuring out how to be effective.

It’s too early to say that Nick Foles has taken the step back that many expected after a near perfect campaign last year. He still has plenty of time to figure things out and get back to the same type of production, but at the same time he doesn’t look like nearly the same player that he was last year. Philadelphia is still very confident in their young quarterback, but they are starting to see some areas that could use some improvement as well.

At this point in time, he may not end up exciting fans too much with his play and quarterback rating, but he obviously has command of the Eagles’ offense and is still a quality starter. The Eagles run a very complex offense that lost one of their main weapons this offseason, and that always takes a toll on the quarterback. Expect to see Nick Foles turn his season back around and begin putting up the big games that fans became accustomed to last season.

Philadelphia is still sitting at the top of the NFC right now, and that is something that no one can take away from Nick Foles. It will be interesting to see whether or not Foles can get himself back to the dominating quarterback that he was last year, but he is still a very effective player at this point in time. Despite the turnovers that he has had, he is still one of the better quarterbacks in the league.
