According to the Dodgers twitter account, Ryu threw a three inning simulate game in the bullpen during Wednesday’s closed off workout which consisted of a total of 45 pitches. In the tweet, the Dodgers also say that Ryu will be re-examined by team doctors.
You would have to assume that the Dodgers aim to start Ryu in game 3 of the NLDS against the Cardinals. We won’t know for certain if they will start Ryu for a little while longer.
Ryu last appeared in a game on September 12th and has sat on the disabled list ever since with shoulder inflammation. If Ryu can’t go in game three then LA might have to turn to Dan Haren in game three.
The Dodgers will likely start Clayton Kershaw on short rest in game 4 after he pitches in game 1 against St. Louis, so getting their injured lefty back for game three could be the stroke of luck that swings this series in the favor of the Dodgers, and if Ryu can pitch throughout the rest of the playoffs then the Dodgers might have the most feared rotation in the playoffs.
