Finally, the 2014 MLB playoffs are upon us, and now that the Wild Card games are over and we know the contenders, we can officially let the speculation begin.

After the Oakland Athletics and Pittsburgh Pirates bowed out over the last two days, we’re left with the following divisional series matchups:

AL Division Series: Detroit Tigers vs. Baltimore Orioles, Kansas City Royals vs. Los Angeles Angels

NL Division Series: St. Louis Cardinals vs. Los Angeles Dodgers, San Francisco Giants vs. Washington Nationals

Every roster spot counts when it comes to the MLB postseason, but there’s always that one player who is key to his club when the World Series title is on the line.

With that said, we examine the most important players on each playoff team.
