MLB Playoffs: The most important player on each team
By Pete Schauer
Los Angeles Angels: Mike Trout
The Los Angeles Angels go as Mike Trout goes, so it’s only natural that Trout is the key for the halos in the postseason.
Trout–now in his third complete season with the Angels–has been the most productive player for Los Angeles this season, and has been one of the best in the MLB here in 2014, leading the Angels in home runs (36), RBI (111) and tying for team lead in stolen bases, with 16. Those 111 RBI are an AL best, by the way.
Trout is having such a good season that MLB.com’s Phil Rogers believes he’s the frontrunner for AL MVP, and I’d have to agree with Rogers there.
According to ESPN, Trout lead all MLB players in WAR during the regular season, further solidifying the fact that he’s the Angels most important player in the playoffs.
He’s a guy who can deliver a big hit in a moment of need or make a game-saving play in the outfield with his Gold Glove-caliber defense.
