Baltimore put together a total team effort in an 8th inning rally to put the Tigers away on Thursday. “We got a bunch of two-out hits all game and we thrived on that,” Orioles’ outfielder Nick Markakis said after the game, via MASN. “Guys wanted to be in that situation. Hopefully we didn’t waste them all tonight.”
Justin Verlander will start for the Tigers in Game 2. He is not far removed from the days when he would have been everybody’s go-to pitcher in a must-win game. Coming off a down season, the former Cy Young and MVP winner will try to prove that he still has the goods to come through when the lights shine the brightest.
Verlander will start for the Tigers opposite Wei-Yin Chen for the Orioles.
